Things have been happening quickly.
I wound up crashing with a wonderful young lady and her daughter in the town of Cholula within blocks of a pyramid built by 3 different indigenous peoples with a massive and elaborate Catholic church built on the very top. It was a beautiful town with a helluva back drop. The night life was reminiscent of Key West of New Orleans. Bars with trendy names like "the Crazy Gringo", "Voodoo Mamma's", and "the Bar Fly" lined the streets and belched forth American club music and lasers from every direction. The calling card of American tourism. But the place wasn't over run, and the culture there seems only slightly whored out for profit. Which was nice. I ate a hand full of grasshoppers while we watched 4 guys swing down from a pole tied to ropes wrapped around the top. I'd show you pictures, but I'm still working on getting a camera together.
We left Cholula and hitched down to Oaxaca, at one point actually catching a ride on a bus (yes, hitchhiked onto a bus). If Oaxaca has any appeal it managed to elude me. I can't recommend visiting it.
We left as quickly as possible and ran straight South to what I will have to leave as an undisclosed location. It's nothing more than a little village on a beach with a tiny bit of tourism. I couldn't even find it on google maps. So you'll forgive me for keeping the little secrete I've discovered here. It's lush and green with a sandy beach and beautiful women every where.
I've been crashing with a small group of hippies outside of town that are trying to put together a commune. It's certainly not my scene, but considering the amount of time I've spent in cities lately, it's actually quite refreshing. And with my birthday creeping up tomorrow, I could think of worse places to spend it. Such as under the bridge in Arkansas like last year.
I'm hoping to have a new camera in about a week or so, but I can't get anything until I have an address to have it sent to. In the mean time I'll keep updating as best I can. This one kinda sucks. Sorry.
