My life is strange to say the least. And to say that strange things happen to me would be a profound understatement. Mexico being a strange place where strange things happen to strangers on a pretty consistent basis, well, it's just a weird shit recipe from hell. What's that you say? You'd like some examples? Why certainly...
While hitchhiking through the interior of Mexico I was picked up by a bus, and rode it for roughly 8 hours...for free. After which I was picked up by a taxi and scored a 70 Kilometer ride...no charge.
While hanging out in my little beach village, I have met 3 Alaskans on 2 separate occasions. Considering how far I am from Alaska, how small this place really is, and how few Alaskans there are in the world, to encounter 3 in 3 weeks is remarkable. To add to the strangeness, one of them owns the store in Anchorage where I bought my "stupid hat" all those years ago, which I've worn on countless adventures, fishing boats, hunting trips, and travels. And another I actually remember giving rides to during my taxi driving days in Anchorage.
A local Mayan artist made a necklace out of the killer whale tooth I carry. Not only did he do an amazing job, but on a whim put garnets in it as well, just because he thought they would look nice. Garnets happen to be my birth stone. He said while he was sitting on the beach finishing the necklace, he looked up and saw a pod of Orcas swimming through the bay.
The oddities I've experienced lately could stretch for volumes, but at the moment I lack the patience to dig too deeply. It's night time in paradise and my social calendar is simply too full to allow me to spend the evening recounting it all. But I hope you've enjoyed the few anecdotes I could jot down. Time to go see what strangeness is waiting for me tonight.
