Spent most of the day finishing the rock wall and cobbling a patio. I was invited to a wonderful family Easter diner and had long conversations with a couple of cow boys who were world class rodeo riders in the 1950's. It's nice to be in a friendly place for a holiday, and the combination of great company, a full belly, and a bit of tobacco to round things off is a rare thing indeed. I am damned content.

The rock wall project is ahead of schedule, so we're taking the day off. Went to a buffet at an indian casino last night and stuffed myself retarded. Slipped into a food comma and slept til noon today. Just being a lazy bastard. Catching up on some writing and new projects for the site. Temperatures are approaching triple digits here and my mind is on rain forest...
Nothing much of interest to report...just laboring in 95 degree heat building the rock wall with my host. Feels good.
The new camera is on it's way, and a HUGE thank you to the AD Road Crew for making it happen. Particularly "Missouri Dude" for his generous contribution.
Yesterday was spent exploring more ruins in the desert and discovering a small oasis hidden in a narrows in the desert. It was one of the most enchanting things I've ever seen. Ferns growing in the desert...remarkable. Today I have been helping to build a rock wall. It feels good to build something again. It's been a while. Also, check back soon for a new "AD in HD" page...you'll love it! As usual things have been crazy as he'll. I left Las Vegas 3 days ago headed south and have been staying near the town of needles ca. In the last 3 days I have partied on Lake Havasu in AZ for spring break, explored abandoned gold mines, played in ruins along the old route 66 and an old civil war era army fort in the desert, and rock hounded a bucket full of agates of amazing beauty. I've had excellent company who has been kind enough to take a few pictures for me, and as soon as they arrive in my email I'll post them here. With any luck I'll have a camera again soon. Mexico waits....
Been staying with some AMAZING new friends here in Las Vegas, but it's time to go. I've done about all I can here now, and it's time to move on, the only rub is I'm not ready to hit Mexico yet. Once I cross the border that's it, there's no turning back. And I need to have EVERYTHING squared away before I take that step. So where to now? My mind had been drifting towards CO, but I'm some what indecisive. What ever it is I'm going to do, I need to know in the next few hours for sure.
Feeling top shelf now, and motivated to take care of business. Made my way back into Las Vegas to get things in order. Unfortunately I have no time frame for heading South at this point. The longer it takes me to get my gear squared away and AlaskanDude.com up to speed the longer it will be before I hit Mexico. I can't half ass this...it must be done.
I came down with a bug while sorting things out, so I have opted to hole up in the cave until I am travel ready. Being sick on the Road sucks for sure, but running out of distractions is almost worse. I've read everything in the mobile library, written a slew of letters, and have rock hounded around the cave enough to fill a bucket with small crystals and fossils. The nights are even worse than the days. Confined to the cave with my candle and little more than mending gear to keep me busy...I am beyond ready to tackle Mexico.
