My time in Anchorage draws to a close this weekend. It's been a great visit, but now it's down to business. One more day hunt with my youngest brother and it's off to the fish killing fields. Wish me luck folks, I'll check back as I can.

Still not fishing yet, but having a great time just the same. Went bear hunting with my youngest brother all day yesterday and spent 2 and a half hours on a stalk. We didn't get him, but my little brother's fortitude in the hunt made me proud.
I'm not traveling at the moment, so what ever pictures I post will likely be in the "ALASKA" album here. It's been a colorful few days here. Always great to catch up with family of course, my nieces are growing up faster than I think human children are supposed to, my brothers are shining examples of responsible adults, and my father seemed to have missed me more than anyone else. It almost makes a guy wish he could stick around a while...
Had a little hick up with the boat but I'm not worried. I got here with plenty of time to get things sorted out. So I made it back to Anchorage. I went from 90 degrees to a snow storm. I feel like such a short bus kid right now. Oh well. Down to business. Haven't slept since 0500 west coast time yesterday.
Waiting to fly in to Anchorage right now. I'm being told it's snowing in Kenai at the moment, and a snow storm is expected to blow in from Kenai to the Mat-Su Valley by morning. Doesn't matter. It's gonna be a kick ass season.
I almost feel sorry for the poor bastard with TSA that has me pull these bio hazard boots off at the airport. Almost. This was certainly an unexpected turn, but I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty stoked to get to see my family, my nieces, my friends, my Dingo, my old stomping grounds in the woods, and let my chest hair grow on the fishing boat again. And of course, see just enough of Anchorage to remind me why I keep swearing I'll never go back. I really mean it this time. This is it. Getting set to fly back to Alaska tomorrow. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited to be back on the water, and the much needed financing for the expedition to South America will be a huge benefit. In the mean time I'm busy writing...
Good news: I've got a boat lined up with a good skipper in a solid fishery with high expectations for the coming season.
Bad news: I'll be flying up to Alaska to work the season. I just don't have enough time to hitchhike up without risking my spot on the boat. On a side note, I've gotten a few messages about the lack of new content on the site, and all I can say is I'm doing the best I can. Things will be improving shortly. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Just finished another chunk of book and sent it down range to be proof read. I feel like I just ran a triathlon. I'd like to celebrate that one, it took a lot out of me. But I have no one to celebrate with...
Also, last night a desert pack rat snuck into my camp and walked right by 3 packs of ramen to steal every candle I had. Again, walked RIGHT BY a pile of food...to steal candles it can't even eat. That's just fucked up. More news in the fishing arena, but I'll wait to announce that. It's looking good. It's also bed time. Sorry for falling off the grid there folks. Plans have been in flux the last week or so. I'm heading back to Alaska for a couple of months to go commercial fishing and get some travel money together. The Pan American Hwy is still happening, just a little delay so I can get my shit together. But don't worry, I'll still be posting writing/pictures/(hopefully) videos of the AlCan on the way up and from the fishing boat. It'll be fun. I promise.
