If I don't learn some Spanish soon, this is gonna be one lonely trip.
I went for a really nice walk around the city this evening, and to be fair, I'm beginning to put together some vocabulary here. But it is damned frustrating. I strolled through a market and stopped to get a bite to eat at a shanty wagon. for 50 pesos I got a bangin' plate of pork tacos (I think?) and a Mexican glass bottle coke. After wandering around taking in the sights/smells/sounds I finished my coke and popped into a watering hole for a beer. I met a guy who spoke even less English than I speak Spanish and we killed a few Tacatas together. He was a very talkative fella, which made it hard to pretend I knew what his drunk ass was going on about, but I think I did pretty well all things considered. In any case, it was a nice evening. Drunken bar brawls and run ins with the Federali might make for better blogs, but bear with me, it's my first day in Mexico. I got plenty of time.
And I called it an early night. I have a long ways to go tomorrow. I sketched together a rough plan, and unfortunately it involves a helluva lot of walking first thing in the morning. So rest will do me better than a hang over.
